Caring For Your Cutting Board
- Boards should be hand washed in hot, soapy water and dried immediately after washing to prevent warping. Do not soak the board in water. If you’ve been cutting meat on your board it’s a good idea to use vinegar to disinfect. When your cutting board starts looking faded and lighter in color it might be time to recondition. Ensure your board is clean and dry. Apply a generous coat of board butter with your hands and massage it into the wood. Let your board sit overnight to absorb the mineral oil and beeswax mixture. With a lint free cloth wipe away any excess and buff to a sheen. How often you treat your board will depend entirely on the frequency of use. For some it might be a couple times a year, for others it might be every month.
